Camp meeting evangelist has a sensitivity for those in pain

Those who look to the annual God’s Holiness Camp Meeting experience as a time of healing — whether it be of the spiritual or physical variety — should take heart.

The week’s evangelist, Rev. Stephen Earle Wilson, knows your burden.

He has endured five heart attacks, a triple bypass, an aortic valve replacement and a pacemaker.

“God has given me a tremendous burden for people in pain,” he said. “Through my own suffering, I have gained a sensitivity for others who are hurting. God’s Word offers both help and hope in every circumstance of life.”

Wilson’s faith has helped him persevere despite the physical limitations he has faced.

“God has brought tremendous healing into my life this past year,” he said.

The son of renowned pastor and evangelist Dr. Earle Wilson, Stephen has served more than three decades in ministry, with a wide variety of experiences.

He was the lead pastor at six different churches, an adjunct professor at both Bethany Bible College and Indiana Wesleyan University, served on a variety of district and denominational board and has spoken as an evangelist at Christian camps and conferences over three continents.

His passion includes teaching the Word of God in a way that helps people know and grow in their relationships with Christ, encouraging and equipping Christian workers to serve more effectively and providing encouragement and support for believers who are “world weary.”

Stephen and his wife, Rebecca, were married on April 8, 1978. They have two grown children and three grandchildren.

After taking a yer off to tend to various physical struggles, Stephen recently accepted the call to pastor Dayspring Wesleyan Church in Marion, Ohio, starting after our camp meeting concludes.
