Camp Meeting 2017: Overview from Friday, July 28

Friday was missions day at the 2017 God’s Holiness Grove Camp Meeting, and the missionary team of Tom and Karen Asher led the evening service after the youth helped carry in flags representing each country supported by churches connected to camp.

The Ashers – doctors from Michigan – talked about their time in Sierra Leone, about how they – through God’s assistance and nudging – were able to greatly reduce the rate of women who die in childbirth and children who die from various ailments.

They talked about how freedom for our country cost the lives of many of our sons and daughters – and that freedom from sin cost God his son. They encouraged those in attendance to step out for God – pointing out that we can’t be Christians who just sit at home, but need to get out share Jesus with others.

Rev. Ryan Brosious and his ministry team from Christ Wesleyan Church again shared a powerful musical ministry to accompany the Ashers’ discussion.

Throughout the day, there was once again childrens, youth and adult devotional opportunities, open swim time, a special youth event called Warrior Run, where the teens had to race and compete in various activities, including a paintball target shoot. In the evening after service, the kids and youth shared a night swim and the teens followed with a few games of volleyball.

Today (Saturday) includes classes for adults, teens and children at 10 a.m. The annual camp meeting business meeting (for members of the organization) starts at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Stephen Wilson returns for our evening service at 7 p.m., and is joined by Rev. Brosious and his ministry team.
