Activities added to Heritage Weekend as banquet ticket deadline looms

The deadline is fast approaching for those interested in attending the sixth annual Heritage Banquet during the upcoming Central Pennsylvania Wesleyan Campground’s Heritage Weekend planned for Sept. 29-30. Tickets need to be ordered through Lisa Jo Smith at the campground office no later than Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Several family based activities have been added to the Heritage Weekend, including a fishing derby, free kayaking and an archery range for the kids. These will be held during the afternoon on Saturday, Sept. 30, leading up to the banquet, scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, will be at be held at Pickett Hall at the campground.

This year’s catered banquet theme is “Celebrating our Heritage: Shaping our Future!” with guest speakers Pastors Ken and Melissa Davis from Sunbury. The meal is $25 per person and includes chicken cordon bleu, glazed tenderloin pork, seven-layer salad, scalloped potatoes, baked corn, green beans with brown butter, coffee and other beverages, homemade bread, cheesecake with berry topping, peach pie and chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.

Of the banquet, 100 percent of your tax-deductible contribution will be donated to CPWCCC because the cost of the meal is being underwritten by table sponsors. To sponsor a table, contact Lisa Jo Smith at 570-538-2790.

The weekend kicks off Friday, Sept. 29, with an interactive hymn swing at 7 p.m., followed by an old-fashioned ice cream social. There will also be opportunities Friday evening to purchase tickets for a benefit auction that will run through the next day.

Saturday, Sept. 30, kicks off with a pancake and sausage breakfast at 9 a.m. Donations toward the breakfast are welcome. Fishing, archery and kayaking will happen in the afternoon.
