Lessons from Daniel, busy schedule planned for youth at 2020 camp

God’s Holiness Grove camp meeting is scheduled for the weekend of July 24-26, 2020.

Youth this year will be led by John and Michelle Zaktansky, the youth group leaders at Port Ann Wesleyan Church. They have been attending family camp since Michelle was a teenager and the camp was located down near Sunbury on the strip where the Monroe Marketplace now stands. Rodney Murphy, leader of the Augustaville Wesleyan Church will also be helping with this year’s youth program.

Live music worship at each of our gatherings (twice per day this year) will be led by Ricky Murphy. Check out some of his music and creative videos by clicking here.

Lessons will be focused on several extremely powerful testimonies from local people along with lessons from the first six chapters of the book of Daniel in the Old Testament with the theme of “Resolved.”

A country besieged. An unexpected quarantine. Stuck within a pagan culture, a teenage Daniel finds himself in a situation many teens today can sort of relate to. He has every right, by worldly standards, to give into the temptations he encounters — to turn his back on God in an effort to survive life-threatening situations. Yet, we learn in Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel RESOLVED not to defile himself …”

The study will look at how to stay focused on God in the midst of trials and temptations that young people face. We will look at how to better develop your God-given talents and work toward a spiritual transformation that can set the pace for the rest of your life, wrapping up with some Christian troubleshooting and what hurdles often trip up believers.

There will also be a variety of activities to keep everyone busy, including some old favorites (shown in the photo at the top of this post), along with a messy yet fun color war, a youth-centered bonfire and more. We will also be incorporating an incentive program to encourage youth to participate in each activity and absorb as much as possible from our sessions and the evening camp-wide services. We have received donations of cool prizes so far from the Sunbury Bible Depot, Weaver’s Archery in Kreamer and the Little Sportsman Shop in Northumberland.

We ask that all youth and families keep preparations for this week in prayer — that God’s will is done throughout the program and that each youth leaves camp RESOLVED to follow God’s lead in each aspect of his/her life. It would also be helpful to read the first six chapters of the book of Daniel heading into the experience.
