Fireworks, painting program, fishing derby among holiday weekend events

The Central PA Wesleyan Campground has a busy slate of activities planning this coming weekend for the Fourth of July holiday, starting Friday night (July 1) with a Camping and Canvas Painting Party at Pickett Hall from 6-8 p.m. Registration and payment is required by Wednesday, June 29, for the event. More details for this specific part of the weekend can be found here.

On Saturday, July 2, a buffet breakfast will be served from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Pickett Hall. Donations are accepted to help cover costs.

From 9:30 a.m. to noon, a catch-and-release fishing derby will be held on the lake for all ages. Prizes will be awarded for biggest fish and most fish in each of two categories (adults and kids). A limited supply of open-reel fishing poles and worms will be available on site, but everyone is encouraged to bring their own fishing gear if possible. If you have any questions about the fishing derby, contact John Zaktansky at 570-847-2718 or [email protected]

Also on Saturday, from 1-3 p.m., Pelican’s Shaved Ice will have a truck on campus.

That evening, starting at 5 p.m., will be the camp’s annual pig roast potluck dinner. Everyone should bring a side dish or dessert to share, as well as paper supplies for your family. A donation box will be available to help offset costs.

On Sunday, July 3, a worship service will be held at Pickett Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Murphy sharing the message.

In the afternoon, hayrides will be offered, and starting at dusk, fireworks will be set off near the playground area of the camp.

If you have any questions about any of the programming for this weekend, contact Peggy Lenig at [email protected].
